A project in the National Petroleum Reserve has suffered some resistance from the Biden administration. The day of reckoning will soon be upon us as the U.S. Department of Interior is about to make its Record of Decision.
Fortunately, the Alaska State House sent a clear bipartisan message via HJR 6 that the Willow Project is supported by Alaskans, including those who live in the region where the oil and gas project is located. The Senate is expected to echo that message via passage of HJR 6 today.
Hopefully this legislative chorus will reverberate in the halls of the White House.
The Willow Project would bring $9 billion in capital investment to Alaska, 2500 in constructed jobs and 300+ permanent jobs, not to mention increased energy independence for our nation.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s remarks to the Joint Session of the Alaska State Legislature last week indicated a real possibility that President Biden might not approve the Willow Project. This project would be a game-changer for Alaska. We should know what the president decides within two weeks.
