District: N (Wasilla)
Senator Robert Yundt served four years on the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly – including duties as deputy mayor – before Wasilla voters elected him to Senate District N in 2024. The district covers the north side of town.
“Serving my community in the local office, and now the State Senate, has been the biggest honor of my life,” he said.
Senator Yundt has focused on protecting people’s pocketbooks, maintaining personal freedoms, and preserving the Alaskan way of life that his family has enjoyed for three generations.
The homebuilder is a past member of the Alaska Housing Finance Corp. board of directors and past president of the Alaska State Home Building Association. He has spent his professional life studying budgets and finances.
Senator Yundt is proud of his record as a local leader and his policy achievements:
- Helped repeal an anti-2nd Amendment gun range ordinance.
- Fought passionately to bring the 2024 Arctic Winter Games to the Mat-Su Valley.
- Provided a critical fourth vote to donate land to a local nonprofit youth shooting organization.
- Created a new two-year fire science program for juniors and seniors to earn nationally-recognized certificates.
- Fought tirelessly to expand trades-based training and opportunities for high school students.
- Structured the financial agreement to build the new Mat-Su Central homeschool with zero debt. Once finished, taxpayers save almost $1 million annually in rent.
- Built the new Houston High School without debt.
- Stopped the Mat-Su Borough from becoming a First Class government or adopting a strong mayor form of government.
- Fixed the Government Hill sledding hill and reopened it to the public.
- Increased revenue at Port MacKenzie.
- Sponsored multiple community-wide clean-up events.
- Donated my assembly salary to Alaska nonprofits.
