Senator Mike Shower

During over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force Senator Mike Shower piloted F-15C Eagles and F-22 Raptors, reached the rank of lieutenant colonel, and traveled around the globe.

Now, he is a FedEx pilot with an M.B.A. who has served in the Alaska Senate since being appointed in 2018 – 25 years after moving to the Great Land.

“I have the privilege of representing one of the largest, most conservative and yet diverse districts in the state, Senate District O. From ports and coastal towns to the interior; bush to urban, it includes rail lines, the trans-Alaska oil pipeline, military bases, Alaska Native tribes, mining, oil, gas, logging, fishing and Denali National Park and Preserve,” he said.

District O encompasses Wasilla, Big Lake, Valdez, Healy, Anderson and more. Some areas, like Skwentna, he has to fly to for meetings as there are no roads.

According to Senator Shower, “Alaska is one of the most amazing places on the planet. Having visited over 70 countries and most states, no place has ever quite matched up. The same can be said of Alaskans; varied backgrounds, hardworking, tough and independent.”

Senator Shower is a Republican with the highest conservative lifetime rating in the Alaska Senate by the Conservative Political Action Conference and the American Conservative Union Foundation. Not from campaign promises, but from his actual record. The rating was based upon how he voted on bills, issues addressed, or speeches made on the floor and in committee. All of it is open for public inspection.
